After announcing a $200 million fund for creators in July, popular short video platform TikTok has revealed the first recipients for the fund.
The aim of the fund is to support creators of all sizes to generate an earning on the platform by entertaining TikTok users worldwide.
Although “all sizes” really only refers to already established creators with over 10,000 followers.
In a blog post, the company wrote:
“Creating engaging and meaningful content takes time and commitment, and our creators are just as passionate about sharing stories and connecting with their audiences as we are about serving them and our broader community of users. We’ve seen an incredible response to the TikTok Creator Fund and today, we are pleased to announce the first recipients of the Fund.”
Among the selected creators is “acooknamedmatt” aka Matt Broussard who shares cooking videos and his favourite recipes on the platform.
Others include LA-based photographer “Alex.stemp” and beauty and make-up tutorial expert “Avani”.

TikTok also announced another round for creators to apply for the Fund in mid-August.
To be eligible, creators must be 18 years or older, must have 10,000 followers already and over 10,000 video views within the last 30 days.
