Triller, the video app touted as a prominent TikTok competitor, has apparently been inflating the number of its monthly active users.
The app which has attracted some prominent TikTok users, last month boasted 100 million monthly active users.
But according to a report published by Business Insider, six ex-employees are disputing these numbers.
In October 2019, the app had some 13 million monthly active users and 60 million app downloads.
However, a screenshot of a Localytics analytics dashboard obtained by Business Insider reveals a different story. According to this, Triller had just two million monthly active users on iOS and 484,000 on Android.
All ex-employees confirmed that they had seen analytics dashboard count between one to 2.5 million active users.
Triller did comment on the story by rejecting the claims.
At the same time, Apptopia estimates of lifetime installs of Triller puts it at 52 million, which is a fifth of the company’s claim of 250 million.
