TikTok was the most downloaded app globally in August 2020. The popular short-form video app saw nearly 63.4 million installs which is 1.7% more than August 2019.
The countries responsible for the highest number of installs were Indonesia (11%) and Brazil (9%), according to data from Sensor Tower.
Facebook ranks as the second most installed social media app with over 51.6 million installs. India is leading downloads of the social network at 25%, followed by Indonesia (9%).
Instagram, Snapchat, and Pinterest were among the top five most downloaded social apps worldwide.
In another chart, Sensor Tower revealed the top education apps for the month of August.
Google Classroom had some 15.3 minion installs, which is 4.8x the downloads it had in August 2019.
The countries driving the number of installs included India at 22% and the US at 16%.
YouTube Kids was the second most installed app within the category of education at 9 million installs. That represents a 28% rise from 2019.
Duolingo, Brainly, and Toca Life World all ranked among the top five.
