TikTok attracted over 60 million downloads worldwide in December 2020 alone.
That’s according to new data from AppFigures which ranked the top apps of the year.
The popular video app saw downloads of 4 million in November on the Apple App Store alone.
But competitors are closing in as the app faces multiple legal challenges in different countries.
For example, short-form video app Likee ranked among the top 10 downloads for December 2020
Moj, an Indian video app, has seen solid growth in the country partially because both TikTok and Likee have been banned here.
WhatsApp Business climbed into the top 10 as 40% of its users in December came from India. What’s interesting is that less than 1% of new users of the app came from the US during December.
Facebook-owned apps are showing resilience, continuing to dominate the top 10.
