Instagram's Recently Deleted feature allows you to review and restore previously-deleted posts. This is especially useful for accounts that were targeted by hackers, as hackers often delete their victims' posts.
Recently Deleted Brings Back Your Lost Content
If you accidentally delete an Instagram post, or become the victim of a hacker, you'll probably want to bring back any lost content. A post on the Instagram Blog revealed the Recently Deleted feature, which lets you do exactly that.
With this feature, you can restore photos, videos, Reels, Stories, as well as IGTV videos. As soon as a post gets deleted, it automatically gets stored in the Recently Deleted folder.
Any non-archived Stories will remain in the Recently Deleted folder for 24 hours. As for all other kinds of content, it'll stay in the folder for 30 days before getting permanently deleted.
How to Access Your Recently Deleted Folder
To review your deleted content, make sure you have the latest version of Instagram. Once you open the app, head to your profile and select Settings > Account > Recently Deleted.
You'll then see a collection of deleted content, and you'll be given the choice to restore or permanently delete these posts. To keep your account safe, Instagram will ask you to verify your identity before you take action on these posts.
