TikTok was the most download non-gaming app during May 2021, according to the latest data from SensorTower.
The app by ByteDance has had a successful year as downloads skyrocketed in light of COVID lockdowns and restrictions and a greater number of consumers finding ways to stay entertained at home.
TikTok installs were highest in Brazil at 16%, followed by China at 12%.
Facebook was the second most installed non-gaming app globally with India leading downloads at 27%, followed by the US at 7%.
Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger – all owned by Facebook – ranked among the top five.
Other apps that scored in the top 10 apps for downloads in May 2021 included Zoom, Snapchat, CapCut, Telegram and Josh.
