The 4 Best Room Planning Apps for Android

Planning a room can be a tricky process. Will the cupboard fit in that corner? Is this rug too long? Where's the bed going to go? Sometimes you feel like you just need a clear layout that you can follow so that you can easily visualize the setting of your room and arrange it efficiently.

So, here are the best four Android apps you can use to plan your room layout.

1. Magicplan

Magicplan is great for creating accurate and realistic room plans for your home, and it has a number of features that will help you to do this.

You can use the app's room scanner option to create a layout that replicates your room of choice exactly. You just need to let the app use your camera to identify the corners, doors, and height of your room, and then you're good to go.

After this, you can simply add in any features to the room plan, such as units, outlets, windows, and more, so that you can create an accurate floor plan.

You can also subscribe to the app's premium version, which allows you to create unlimited room plans with up to 50 floors each. This will cost you around $15 a month, though, so make sure you're definitely going to make use of the extra features.

2. Room Planner

Room Planner not only allows you to plan your own rooms, but offers a huge variety of sample room designs created by other users for you to be inspired by.

To find these inspirational designs, all you have to do is click to add any given room on the app's selection list, and you'll be able to scroll through a number of different designs, from minimalist, to vintage, to white-on-white.

However, if you're not looking for design ideas, and just want to create a room plan, you can of course also do this with Room Planner. The design process is similar to that of Magicplan, though the room scanner option unfortunately is not available.

Room Planner does have a premium version, with which you set exact dimensions, use real furniture from stores like IKEA in your plans, choose your own colors and textures, and access even more inspirational designs. This will cost you around $15 a month.

3. Palette Home

Palette Home's sole purpose is to allow you to create a detailed and accurate room plan. Once you've selected the type of room you want to create, be it a bathroom, living space, or other, the app will give you a basic square room plan that you can then edit to your own specifications.

With the app's editing options, you can select the room's shape, dimensions, furnishings, and other elements. After you're finished editing, you can even view a 3D version of the room, which allows you to see whether or not it's all looking good.

Of course, if you realize the room doesn't look right upon the 3D viewing, you can always go back and modify your design. You can then save your room plan, and continue to create new ones.

The app does have different premium versions, including the small, basic, and business subscriptions, all of which offer different features. These versions range from a few dollars to $10 monthly, though you can pay annually too.

4. Planner 5D

Planner 5D allows you to create your own room plans, view other users' plans, and get involved in weekly room design challenges.

Like all of the other apps mentioned here, Planner 5D offers an easy-to-use design feature, where you can create your own floor plans from scratch, which can then be saved to your device.

However, if you're looking to get into floor planning as more of a hobby, the app offers a new design challenge every week for you to take part in. These challenges can range from designing bathrooms, to kitchens, to kids' bedrooms.

The app's premium version will cost you around $8 a month, though there is an annual subscription available too. With this version, you can unlock all design items, and edit the features of all items, too.

Get Creative With Your Home Using These Apps

You no longer need to get out the rulers, protractors, pencils, and erasers to create an accurate floor plan. Now, you can just hop on your phone and get it done pretty quickly, without going through sheets and sheets of paper. So, if you're looking to design a room, or if you simply want to familiarize yourself with floor planning, give these apps a go.
