Uber has expanded its grocery delivery services in the US by doubling the number of areas it services to 400 cities.
Among the major markets the company now serves are San Francisco, NY City and Washington DC.
The expansion was possible because of a new partnership with Albertson Companies and the 1,200 grocery stores it owns.
Users who schedule a delivery on Uber Pass and Eats Pass subscribers won’t have to pay any delivery fees when they make orders worth $30 or more.
“This past year has been one of incredible growth for grocery delivery,” Raj Beri, Uber’s Global Head of Grocery and New Verticals.
“Today nearly 3 million consumers order groceries and other essentials each month through Uber and we’re just getting started. By adding thousands of beloved grocers to our selection this year, we are fast-tracking our efforts to help Americans get everything they need from their favourite supermarket, delivered to their doorsteps.”
