AndaSeat has teamed up with Disney to bring the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the screen to your gaming room, courtesy of its latest line of licensed gaming chairs. The latest range comes in the form of Avengers characters, and it has given several AndaSeat gaming chair models the Marvel treatment.

As usual, AndaSeat has comfort at the core of each chair's design, with some models suiting particular frames. You should note that the Ant-Man chair we chose for review is incapable of spontaneous growth or shrinkage like its namesake. With that in mind, if you are a tall or broad gamer, this isn't the seat for you, as it is on the small side in terms of real estate to plonk your bum on.

Anyway, derrieres aside, let's see what superpowers AndaSeat's Ant-Man Gaming Chair possesses.

AndaSeat Ant-Man Gaming Chair, ASSEMBLE!

Obviously, commanding the chair to put itself together isn't going to work unless you're Ms Marvel. So, you're going to have to build it yourself. Unlike my AndaSeat T-Pro 2 review, I actually remembered to document the building process with images. You can see those in the gallery.

As this is a pretty small chair by AndaSeat standards, it was easy enough to put together on my own, although AndaSeat always recommends two people construct its chairs. I threw caution to the wind and risked a minor back injury, and had the gaming chair built in about 20 minutes. I will say, though, I've put several of these chairs together now, so it almost comes as second nature.

When you put yours together, ensure you have plenty of space and keep the various bolts in a safe place, as they are black and easy to miss if you drop them on a dark carpet or under a piece of other furniture. Oh, and a cordless screwdriver or drill with hexagonal heads is your best friend when putting gaming chairs together.

An Avenging Appearance

The Ant-Man gaming chair has quite an arresting aesthetic thanks to the contrast between its black PU leather upholstery, and its bright red detailing. Brilliant white stitching also makes those decorative elements pop. Basically, if you want a gaming chair that makes a visual statement, then the Ant-Man seat is for you (or, for that matter, any of the other chairs in the AndaSeat Marvel range).

Aside from its themed appearance, the AndaSeat gaming chair looks a lot like the brand's other seats. The wheeled base has five spokes, with a hydraulic riser in the stem that holds the seat in place. There is a paddle on the right-hand side below the seat (as if you are sitting in the chair).

The top of the seat takes a bucket form, which echoes that of a Formula One car (no surprise, as AndaSeat once designed driver's seats for Mercedez). To either side, you have the black plastic armrests, and behind you is the backrest (duh). You have optional cushions to fit to the backrest; one for neck support and one for lumbar support.

The backrest is where most of the decorative aspects come to life. White AndaSeat logos flank your shoulders, while the center of the backrest boasts a bright red Ant-Man insignia. Marvel's logo tops the headrest in red and white stitching.

The rear face of the backrest has AndaSeat in red at the top, with a huge Ant-Man motif in the center, and Marvel's logo sits at the bottom this time.

So, a pretty cool-looking chair, especially if you like Marvel! However, given its themed appearance and bright colors, if you maintain a more muted gaming space in terms of color and contrast, you might want to give this one a miss and look up the AndaSeat T-Compact instead. This alternative has grey linen upholstery and looks a lot less garish in comparison to the Ant-Man chair.

As Many Features as Iron Man?

Well, not quite, no; this is a chair, not a mechanized suit of armor. It also doesn't have as many features as AndaSeat's Iron Man Avengers chair. The Ant-Man gaming seat doesn't have the 4D armrests of the Iron Man variant. Instead, you can only move the armrests in one dimension, that being up and down. So they aren't as customizable as the 4D armrests, which also pivot, move from side-to-side, and backwards and forwards.

However, all the other features are present. You can recline up to 160 degrees (although reclining in a chair without also having a leg rest isn't particularly comfortable. The default position of the backrest is 90 degrees.

AndaSeat also uses its patented memory foam technology in the cushioning throughout the Ant-Man gaming chair.

The lumbar cushion is particularly useful. It has straps with clips that stretch around the backrest—via the vents at the top, and through the space between the seat and the backrest, clipping in the rear center—and which also allow the cushion to move up and down to suit your spinal curvature.

The neck cushion also straps through the vents at the top of the backrest. This helps keep your neck from straining as you game or work at your desk. I'm using it now and I can tell you it is bliss not to have my neck and shoulders sear with fiery agony as I write.

The floor protector—or as you and I would call it, the mat—is a cool addition, although not really a feature of the chair, per se. However, it is nice that AndaSeat has thought of the entire package, adorning each one with a design befitting the hero it represents. Again, this would complete the look in your MCU-themed gaming room.

If you have a wooden floor, the mat will stop the castors from causing any damage, while at the same time preventing you from rolling around the room as you excitedly demolish your enemies in-game.

Defeat Ultron in Comfort

If you're going toe to toe with Ultron, you'd be best off with Ant-Man behind you. The original Ant-Man (alias Hank Pym) invented Ultron, so it makes sense to bring him along to do battle.

The Ant-Man gaming chair is comfortable; a quality I have come to expect from AndaSeat's gaming chairs. As mentioned, it is pretty small, with a seat that measures only 36 cm between the raised wings on either side.

The adjustable cushions, in combination with the seat and backrest, make for a well-supported sitting experience. The armrests, despite not being 4D, are functional. However, I really would have liked to tailor them a bit more to suit my unnaturally long arms.

Other than that, I can't complain at all about the Ant-Man gaming chair from AndaSeat. It has been my daily working chair for several weeks while I tested durability and so on. It hasn't faltered at all and I can sit in it for hours and not feel a single complaint from my coccyx. A definite win.

A Heroic Gaming Chair

So, would I recommend this chair to you? If you are a smaller gamer, yes, definitely. It's comfortable and compact, and is easy to sit in for prolonged periods. If you are a taller or broader gamer, then check the other options available in the AndaSeat Marvel range and see if those suit. If not, I recommend the T-Pro 2 or the Kaizer II.

While it might not work in everyone's gaming space, there is definitely a space for it in the more daring game room, or one which already has a Marvel theme. So, if you are a fan of Marvel comics or their cinematic variants, and gaming, then this range—if not this chair—is perfect for you.
