TikTok has done it again: the popular short-form video app was the most downloaded non-gaming app in September 2021 with over 59 million installs.
Around 16% of its installs came from China followed by the US (12%), according to the latest report from Sensor Tower.
Facebook was the second most-installed app within the non-gaming sector during the month with over 51 million installs.
India led the rise in growth at 29% followed by Indonesia at 7%.
Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger also made up the top five, as in previous months.
Interestingly, the app by the National Anti-Fraud Center scored in second place for App Store downloads.
On Google Play, Facebook led the charts, followed by Instagram.
The findings reveal very little change from the previous months and highlight the importance and dominance of social apps on mobile devices.
