Food delivery apps noticed higher than ever demand during the pandemic last year, as users were restricted to their homes.
Now, new research from mobile experts AdColony shows that 65% of consumers order food using apps more so than they did before the pandemic, highlighting that interest in food apps has remained high.
According to the latest mobile trends report, more than a third of mobile users of all ages eat fast food at least once a week. Meanwhile, one in five eat fast food more than once a week.
Mobile users also said they were more active in drive-thus than before the pandemic with the most popular chains being McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Wendy’s, Burger King, Chick-fil-A and Starbucks.
Interestingly, among mobile gamers 27% also use calorie tracking apps. Mobile gamers were also more likely to read product reviews from an ad and share it with a friend or relative, showing that brand interaction is stronger for gamers who also consume fast food.
Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Papa John’s were the clear winners when it came to food delivery frequency among gamers.
The report shows that positive user experience and convenience of ordering food in-app is a unique opportunity for brands to engage gamers.
“If a brand is interested in growing app usage, this is a chance to further highlight convenience by mitigating the uncertainty of a line at the drive-through and giving the option to order ahead of time.”
