In 2021, eight mobile app games generated over $1 billion each in revenues from the App Store and Google Play.
According to Sensor Tower, these include PUBG Mobile and Honor of Kings from Tencent and Genshin Impact from miHoYo.
PUBG Mobile ranks first and Honor of Kings second for revenues globally this year generating $2.6 billion each in 2021, up 9 and 15%, respectively.
Genshin Impact increased its revenues to $1.8 billion which is a phenomenal achievement for a game only launched in September 2020. To date, the app has generated $2.4 billion in global revenue.
Roblox ranked fourth at $1.3 billion a rise of 20% over the previous year, followed by Coin master at $1.3 billion, which represents an increase of 14%.
Pokemon Go boosted revenues to $1.2 billion and rounding out the top eight was Candy Crush Saga and Garena Free Fire. Uma Musume Pretty Derby came close with $965 million so far this year.
