Google Analytics on Android Gets Big 4.0 Update and Analytics Guy is Mad

Google Analytics on Android Gets Big 4.0 Update and Analytics Guy is Mad

Google Analytics is an incredibly important tool for every single website owner. It not only tracks traffic, it also shows trends to an owner, comparisons over time, helps you establish goals, track keywords, view the sources sending people your way, and what your users are doing once they land on your site. Google probably shouldn’t make many major changes to it without letting a lot of people know first.

Well, they issued a pretty major update today to the Google Analytics Android app and people are not exactly happy. The list of issues people are having is growing with every review I read, but the most common items appear to be associated with comparisons, data refreshes, graphs switching from line to bars, the layout is apparently bugging people, and customizations for some people are gone.

Comparisons are the big one because Google completely removed that functionality from the new app. They’ve responded to a review or two with a suggestion that the feature should be back “soon.” We all know that “soon” means whenever the hell Google gets around to it over the next several months, so that’s not good. At least one person who is a part of the Google Analytics beta complained about the update and lack of comparisons in early July, and Google told him it was coming in a week. He has since updated his review to point out that it’s been over a week and the functionality still isn’t there.

The app update does include a pretty big visual refresh with a whiteout that removes most of the orange associated with Google Analytics. It also has the sweet account-swiper action in the top search bar and certainly matches the way most of Google’s app now look as of 2020.

If you use Google Analytics and like the app the way it is, stay away from any updates to v4.0.322243367.

OnePlus Nord is Official and Going to be Tough to Beat, Starting at €399

OnePlus Nord Blue and Gray
OnePlus just announced a phone that could be the phone of the year. The OnePlus Nord is official with a €399 starting price and a set of specs that will embarrass all other phones in this price range. OnePlus might have just made a joke of the Pixel 5 three months before Google could announce it too.
The OnePlus Nord is a lot of what we expected (full specs), but I can’t help but be a bit in shock with the price. You have a 6.44″ FHD AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 765G processor, 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, quadruple camera, 4115mAh battery with Warp Charp 30T, Bluetooth 5.1, 5G, and Android 10 with OxygenOS 10.5 for around $400. You can then up the RAM to 12GB and the storage to 256GB for another $100.
Tell me what phone with this set of specs is going to match this price? Remember, Google’s Pixel 5, which will likely have a similar setup, is rumored to start at $699. Samsung’s Galaxy A71 5G is somewhat close, yet it costs $599 and lacks the high refresh rate display. OnePlus went nuts here.

For that quadruple camera, OnePlus packed in a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor as the main shooter, alongside 8MP ultra-wide, 5MP depth, and 2MP macro sensors. That 48MP Sony sensor with f/1.75 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS, EIS) is the same camera you’ll find in the regular OnePlus 8. The front cameras are a 32MP main shooter next to an 8MP wide-angle lens.
Since this phone runs OxygenOS, you get all of the goods you love about OnePlus phones, like the clean and fast UI with Google Discover, Android’s new gesture navigation, gesture shortcuts, customizations, sound settings, night and reading and ambient display modes, Digital Wellbeing, and more.
OnePlus Nord goes up for sale in Blue Marble and Gray Onyx on August 4 in India and Europe. The 8GB-128GB model is priced at 379 GBP, 399 Euros, and 27999 INR. The 12GB-256GB model will see prices of 469 GBP, 499 Euros, and 29999 INR. India also has a 6GB-64GB variant in Gray Onyx that will cost 24999 INR in early September.
If you live in North America and want this phone, you will have to be one of 50 lucky participants in a “limited beta program.”

Alongside Nord, OnePlus announced OnePlus Buds today as a product that will actually launch in the US.
The OnePlus Buds have leaked plenty, but there is still some stuff to know that might help place these on your shortlist of next  purchases. First of all, OnePlus’ first true wireless earbuds are coming here to the US and they’ll cost just $79. That’s big, right?
As far as features go, OnePlus is claiming about 7 hours of battery life on a single charge (each Bud battery is 35mAh), with up to 30 hours total from the charging case (430mAh battery). The Buds’ case fast charges via USB-C and will give you 10 hours of use in just 10 minutes of charging. Yes, OnePlus put their Warp Charging in the OnePlus Buds.
  • In the sound department, OnePlus put 13.4mm dynamic drivers in, included a Bass Boost and Dolby Atmos support, and 3 microphones in each bud. The hope there is to give you clean vocals and richer, deeper base you may not get from other wireless earbuds.
From a design perspective, the OnePlus Buds (E501A) do look somewhat similar to AirPods, but they also have a unique style thanks to the flat touchpads on their exteriors. Those pads let you customize a double-tap action (like pausing, skipping tracks, launching Google Assistant, etc.). The half-in-ear design hopes to fit all ears without ear tips and you get IPX4 to keep  your buds safe during workouts.
OnePlus added Google’s Fast Pair and Bluetooth 5.0, so getting the OnePlus Buds setup takes all of 10 seconds. There is a companion app similar to the Pixel Buds app that shows you battery life in each bud and the case, helps you find your Buds if lost, customize the action I talked about above, and lets you control other typical Bluetooth options. Oh, they have in-ear detection as well and a supposed “Fnatic Mode” with industry-leading low latency pairing to OnePlus phones.
The OnePlus Buds launch in the US on July 27 in white. In early August, the gray/black pair will join them. OnePlus hasn’t said if the blue pair will show up here.

Get Ready for the OnePlus Nord AR Launch Event

OnePlus Nord Invite

Read the original post: Get Ready for the OnePlus Nord AR Launch Event

The teasing (and maybe the memes) comes to an end tomorrow when OnePlus officially unveils the OnePlus Nord, tells us when and where we can buy one, and for how much. Through a launch event that will be held as an AR experience and live stream with several YouTube channels, we’ll finally know the full story of OnePlus’ new budget phone.

There are multiple ways to experience Nord on July 21. First of all, you need to mark the time on you calendars as follows: 10AM Eastern (7AM Pacific). Got that?

The next thing you’ll need to do is decide if you want to be a part of the AR experience. If you do, go ahead and install the OnePlus Nord AR app (Google Play Link).  This app, once 7AM Pacific rolls around, will go live with an augmented reality experience, sort of like a hands-on in a virtual sense.

This AR app was built for folks who have a special invite with QR code and piece of cardboard. However, if you want to make your own to get the AR action going without the official invite, you can do just that. OnePlus has instructions for making your own OnePlus Nord cardboard right here.

And finally, if you want nothing to do with AR stuff, there will be a streamed launch event of some sort, which we have embedded below. You’ll also want to stick close to DL for all-day coverage of Nord and the OnePlus Buds.

For those not in the US and are planning to buy Nord, be sure to keep OnePlus’ Nord portal handy.
