Installing beta software can be a tricky business, especially on an iPhone or iPad, where things get really weird once computers and cables start to appear as necessary little objects to install new software. But thankfully, you can download and install iOS 14 / iPadOS 14 beta over the air, thanks to the powers that be at Apple. All you need is an Apple Developer Program membership, which you can sign up for here. It will set you back $99 on an yearly basis so keep that in mind before going ahead.
Tutorial
Note: It is a good idea to backup everything before going ahead with this, unless you really want to feel a bit adventurous.
Step 1. Sign into the Apple Developer Program website using your iPhone or iPad.
Step 2. Head over to the Downloads section.
Step 3. Over here, find the iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 betas. You will see a blue 'Install Profile' button next to the available download. Tap on it.
Step 4. You will be asked where you wish to install the profile, select your iPhone or iPad as the target device. At this point you might be asked to authorize the profile being installed, so head over to Settings > General > Profiles and do so.
Step 5. Restart your iPhone or iPad now. You may do so by going to Settings > General and then tap on Shut Down at the bottom. Power the device back on in a few seconds.
Step 6. Once you are booted back up, connect to Wi-Fi, plug in the wall adapter and then navigate to Settings > General > Software Update.
Step 7. As soon as the iOS 14 / iPadOS 14 beta shows up, tap on Download and Install.
Step 8. Your iPhone or iPad will now start downloading the update. It will then be prepared, verified by Apple and installed. This entire process may take from fifteen minutes all the way up to a minute, entirely depending on the model of your device and the amount of files and data you have.
Once the installation is complete, you can start using your device and experience iOS 14 / iPadOS 14 beta. That's all.
