Driven by pandemic lockdowns, Apple noted a record year for its services in 2020.
As the App Store Small Business Program officially goes live this week with many independent developers already signing up to receive reduced commissions on their apps, Apple shared a few stats of how its services performed last year.
The most downloaded app on the App Store were Zoom and Disney+, while game titles such as Among Us and Roblox stood out.
App Store customers spent a whopping $1.8 billion on digital goods and services between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
New Year’s Day saw spending of $540 million in a single day, setting a new record.
Apple Music also noted record growth as more people engaged with music and podcasts.
Almost 90% of iOS 14 listeners used new features like Search and personal radio stations to engage.
The platform also branched out to support FaceTime interviews and group chats with stars and fans globally.
Apple TV launched on LG, Sony, and VIZIO smart TVs, and PlayStation and Xbox consoles last year.
Customers can subscribe directly to premium channels such as AMC+, CBS All Access, SHOWTIME, and Starz to quickly access content from Disney+, Peacock, HBO Max, and discovery+.
Premium movies on demand are now also accessible via the app.
For 2021, Apple is planning plenty of Original TV show and movie productions.
