How to Disable Pop-Up Ads on Steam

Are you tired of seeing pop-up adverts on Steam? Fair enough. Steam already promotes its catalog enough through the store, emails, social media, and more—you don't need to see pop-ups in addition to this.

These ads normally appear when you first launch Steam or finish playing a game. Although the window dubs itself "news," it's really just a series of adverts for pre-orders, sales, free weekends, and so on.

We're going to show you how to disable pop-up ads on Steam.

What Are Pop-Up Ads on Steam?

You may be so used to seeing pop-up ads on Steam that you don't really register them. They commonly appear when you first launch Steam, or when you reach the end of a gaming session. You can see an example in the screenshot above.

These ads serve little purpose, since you can get the same information from the Steam store or from the What's New section in your Steam library.

While you can click Close to instantly dismiss the window, it's an unnecessary nuisance. It's quick to disable Steam pop-up ads permanently, so keep reading.
