Zoom, the popular mobile video conferencing app, was downloaded 300+ million times during the second quarter of 2020, beating video app TikTok to first spot.
That’s according to new research from Sensor Tower.
This marks a milestone for Zoom making it the third app to ever surpass 300 million downloads within just three months, aside from mobile game Pokemon Go and TikTok.
Zoom beat TikTok to the top spot on the App Store in Q2 with 94 million installs compared to 67 million, respectively.
No other non-gaming app has previously reached over 50 million downloads on iOS devices in a quarter.
The rise in downloads is due to the app’s popularity during nationwide lockdowns as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Google Play, TikTok was the most downloaded app with 230 million installs ahead of Zoom.
In line with the surge in downloads, Zoom reported a revenue rise of 169% to $328 million for Q1 2020.
However, both Zoom and TikTok are facing bans in the US and other countries over security concerns.
