India had the highest number of mobile game installs during the first three quarters of 2020 at 7.3 billion game downloads. It accounted for 17% of mobile game installs globally, according to data by Safe Betting Sites.
The gaming industry in India generated some $1.2 billion in spending in 2020, and is projected to reach $1.9 billion in 2022.
It’s a major boon for the India gaming industry that will create some 40,000 jobs as a consequence.
There are also estimates that daily active gamers could increase by up to 40% by 2022 to 370 million, up from 201 million in 2016.
The US ranked second in terms of mobile game installs during the first three quarters of 2020 at 4.2 billion downloads. It accounted for 9.8% of the global total, followed by Brazil at 3.5 billion downloads – a 8% share.
The number of mobile game downloads rose almost 37% during the measured time frame, with Google Play downloads increasing 43% and Apple Store downloads rising by 16%>
But both app stores saw a sharp increase in app downloads during Q1 and Q2, followed by a drop in Q3.
Player spending reached nearly $59 billion – an increase of 17.5% over 2019.
