There's no shortage of Google Experiments out there. The company is always trying something new and interesting.
Google's latest experiment is peculiar. The company created a website that lets you drag some blobs around to create opera music. It's definitely weird, but it's also interesting to see how Google can use machine learning to create music that sounds fantastic.
Google's AI Blob Opera
The Google AI Blob Opera is an entertaining tool to mess with. To us, the end-users, the tool is just a few blobs that you can drag around the create beautiful operatic music.
But there's a lot more to it. Artist David Lee and Google put machine learning to work to create this entertaining tool. Not only did Lee work on the tool but singers Cristian Joel, Frederick Tong, Joanna Gamble, and Olivia Doutney record 16 hours of singing to teach the AI how to make music.
Using it is as simple as dragging the blobs up and down to change the pitch and left and right to change the vowel sound. From there, the machine learning algorithm will help the other blobs harmonize with the moves you're making.
Machine Learning is Crazy!
It's amazing what AI and machine learning can do. If you can imagine it, there's probably someone out there programming a machine to do it.
