iPhone and iPad Users Can Now Download iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 Beta for Free Without a Developer Account Using Apple's Beta Software Program
Apple released iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 to developers a few days back with loads of changes. Today, you can get in on the action as well without having to pay Apple in order to access the beta bits as the software is now available for free to public beta testers.
It's super easy to download, and before you even do anything, we highly recommend that you read through it all so that everything goes smoothly for you.
Backup Everything Just in Case
Though not entirely necessary, but it's always a good idea to back things up real quick before you perform an upgrade to something that involves beta software. You can either use iTunes, Finder or iCloud to do it.
Download iOS 14.5 / iPadOS 14.5 Public Beta
Note: Your device must be compatible with iOS 14 / iPadOS 14 in order to install the new public beta update.
With the backup bit out of the way, follow the steps exactly as they are outlined below.
Step 1. Launch Safari on your iPhone or iPad
Step 2. Type in the following address: beta.apple.com and then tap on Go on your keyboard
Step 3. Scroll down a little and you will see a Sign in option. Tap on it. If you aren't a member of Apple's Beta Software Program, then tap on Sign up and then sign up using your Apple ID which you are currently using on the device on which you want to test out the beta
Step 4. On the top right hand corner you'll see a downward facing arrow. Tap on it to reveal more options
Step 5. Tap on Enroll Your Devices
Step 6. Scroll down to the Install profile section and tap on Download profile
Step 7. Simply follow the on-screen prompts for installation
That's it. The update will be delivered to you over the air and you can install it by going to Settings > General > Software Update on your device. Once downloaded, it will be installed onto your device.
You will keep on receiving new beta updates until the final one is available.
