Retail apps have become some of the fastest growing apps in Europe in 2021 following on from a year of shopping at home in 2020.
According to figures from Sensor Tower, app installs of shopping apps grew to 572 million in 2021, up 3% year-on-year.
AliExpress and Wish were the top downloaded retail apps.
User adoption jumped 15% during 2021 with European retail app installs set to continue an upward trend to reach 187 million installs in Q1 2022.
Fashion retail app SHEIN rose to the top of the shopping charts in the first half of 2021, following heavy advertising in the UK. Downloads correlated with Facebook Ads focusing on 80% off deals.
Nike and Adidas ranked in the top 2 sportswear apps in Europe.
Russia leads the market in this segment at 18% market share in terms of monthly active users.
European retail apps are expected to remain above pre-pandemic levels during Q1 2022.
