How to Create Zip Files and Unzip Files on Windows 11

Create Zip Files

If you are trying to transfer files or save disk space, compressing files is the way to do so. Compressing files is very useful and has helped many times, especially when I am trying to send large amounts of data over emails or speed up data transfer. This tutorial will show you how to create zip files and unzip them on Windows 11 systems.

Create Zip Files

Creating such files will help you compress large files and allow you to combine multiple folders. The process is straightforward, and you follow the steps below:

Step-1: Go to the location where the data you wish to compress is located.

Step-2: If you wish to compress multiple files/folders, you can put them in one folder. [If you don’t, you can skip this step and move onto step 3] do the following:

  •  Right-click on the screen.
  •  Hover cursor over New.
  •  Select Folder.
  •  One folder is created, move the files/folder to this newly created folder.

Create New Folder

Step-3: Now, right-click on the file/folder you wish to compress.

Step-4: Select Compress to ZIP file.

Step-5: Once the Zip file is created, you can rename it if you wish.

Extract ZIP file

You may need to extract a zip file in case someone sends a zipped folder. It is as easy as zipping them.

  1.  Right-click on the zipped file and select Extract All.
    Extract Zip Files
  2.  Select the location where you want the extracted data to be saved.
  3.  Select Extract.
    Select Location

I hope this helps. Let us know in the comments below.
